mbed is a very compact evaluation board containing a 32 bit ARM Cortex M3 CPU (NPC 1768) with a comprehensive set of peripherals and a built-in USB interface to the host computer. The whole system is packed on a 40-pin DIP package making it ideal for prototyping on breadboard or PCB. Program transfer and power supply are done through the USB port.
The software development tools are provided on the Internet ("Cloud-based"). Development is made in C++ using an extensive set of libraries allowing easy access to the different interfaces available. The tools are compatible with Windows (XP, Vista, 7), Mac OS X and Linux (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chome and Safari).
